What We Believe

What we believe at St Mary’s Lawford

crossWe believe that God created the world and that we are part of that creation. God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us, but so often we have gone our own way and ignored him and his love.
We believe that God’s son Jesus’ time on earth was spent helping restore that relationship. Jesus lived a perfect life but was killed by people who found him a threat. Astonishingly, he didn’t stay dead but was raised back to life. Now God’s Holy Spirit is here to help those that love Jesus to live their lives as his followers.
We believe that the Bible is the word of God, and that he inspired a variety of authors to write about the continuing story of the relationship between him and his creation.

We believe that the Bible is the word of God

We believe that when we meet together as the Church we can find space to pray and to worship. As people who are all on a journey of faith, it’s good to be with other travellers who are on the same journey.
